At FIVAP, we offer minimally invasive surgery in gynecology.
Gynecologists have been pioneers in minimally invasive surgery since its inception. Along with technological advances, we have managed to reduce surgical complications in our patients.
Minimally invasive surgery in gynecology includes procedures with diagnostic or therapeutic objectives that are associated with advantages for the patient, such as less pain, shorter stays, faster recovery, fewer scars, and fewer complications than traditional gynecological surgery.
Hysteroscopy
This is a procedure that allows the gynecologist to view the interior of the uterus through a lens inserted through the vagina and cervix. This procedure can be performed for diagnostic purposes or for the treatment of intrauterine pathologies such as endometrial polyps, fibroids, adhesions, and the correction of uterine malformations, among other pathologies related to infertility. Therefore, it is a fundamental tool in the field of assisted reproduction.
At FIVAP, we follow the recommendations of scientific societies, applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the training of our staff to maximize the results of the reproductive treatments we offer.
Laparoscopy
This is a procedure that allows the gynecologist to view the female reproductive system from inside the abdomen using a lens inserted through a small incision in the patient’s navel and other small incisions in the pelvis for surgical instruments.
This procedure can be performed for diagnostic purposes or for the treatment of conditions such as cyst, fibroid, or fallopian tube removal, tubal ligation, tubal repair, or adhesion release, among others.
Our Experience
We are a leading center in minimally invasive surgery.
At FIVAP, we have advanced alongside technology, increasingly using more up-to-date equipment with smaller lenses and instruments. Together with the excellent work of our anesthesia and nursing teams, this has resulted in improvements for our patients, who enjoy shorter stays, fewer complications, less pain, and fewer scars.
Other Surgeries
Among other surgeries we currently offer at FIVAP are embryoscopies and uterine curettage for terminated pregnancies, with the aim of finding a solution for patients in these cases.
During the study of cervical pathology, if indicated, we treat precursor lesions using diathermic loop resection, also known as cervical conization.
Minimally invasive gynecological surgery has its indications, like any procedure, and the patients are selected by the medical team. When open surgery is indicated for some patients due to their pathology, the Center also plans, with the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care that this entails, longer stays at the FIVAP referral hospital center. This center offers safety, quality, and the best care to our patients, relying on FIVAP staff, both medical and instrumental, to perform the surgery.
