It is a simple and painless technique that involves depositing optimized semen into the woman’s uterine cavity, either from the partner’s semen (AI) or from a donor semen (DSI).
Artificial Insemination
The objective of the technique is to improve the quality of the semen sample and optimize egg maturation to increase the fertilization rate by eliminating potential obstacles that sperm must overcome to reach the egg.
To achieve this, ovarian stimulation is performed, promoting egg growth and maturation, which is monitored through laboratory tests and ultrasounds. When the gynecologist observes that the follicle size is adequate, insemination is performed. On the day of insemination, the semen sample, previously processed using techniques that optimize its quality, is deposited into the uterine cavity using a catheter. The procedure is very simple and painless.
After the insemination, a brief rest period is required in the office, after which the patient can go home with the appropriate instructions.
Approximately two weeks later, a pregnancy test will be performed to assess the success of the insemination.
Who is it indicated for?
Artificial insemination is indicated for women with some type of abnormality in ovulation or uterine morphology, in cases of vaginismus, women without a male partner, or women whose male partner has mild to moderate abnormalities in semen quality.
